Samsung to launch its galaxy S4 in April next year.

The next iteration of Samsung's flagship device, the Galaxy S IV is rumoured to come with the famed S-Pen stylus as seen in it's 5-inch phablets the Galaxy Note and Note II

Phone Arena reports via Korean site eNuri that the Galaxy S IV is the first smartphone in the series to feature the stylus as the Korean manufacturer seeks to "unite its Note series with the flagship Galaxy S IV", allegedly confirmed by a quote from a Samsung official.

According to latest rumours from SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy S IV is being developed under the codename 'Project J' and is likely to be launched in April next year.

Reports have indicated that the Galaxy S IV will indeed come with a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display with 1920x1080 resolution, giving it a pixel density of 441ppi. That report is in line with other rumours which suggested that Samsung and LG are working on smartphones with full-HD display, which may be released in first-half of 2013.

Additionally, murmurs are that the new Samsung Android flagship will run on Jelly Bean and feature a 2 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and an 8-core GPU. It is also rumoured that the smartphone will use ARM big.LITTLE architecture featuring a combination of an energy-efficient A7 processor and an A15 one for simple and heavy task processing.

There's more buzz about the device being equipped with a 13-megapixel camera rear auto-focus camera and slightly thicker, 9.2mm body.

Samsung to launch 5.5 inch bendable display at CES 2013

Anticipation is high about what the big companies are going to show off during CES 2013. According to CNET, Samsung Display, a spin-off of Samsung Electronics, will be showing off bendable screens during the event that could hint at radical design changes in future smartphones and TVs.

One of the screens that will be showcased by the company is a 5.5-inch flexible screen intended for use on smartphones. It will have a resolution of 1280 x 720, giving it a pixel density of 267 ppi. The other screen to be showcased will be a 55-inch TV-sized screen.

Samsung Display has said that the displays will offer more freedom whilee designing the devices. The company also pointed out that though the screens can be bent, they aren't made for being rolled up.

According to an earlier report, Samsung will not be showing off the company's next flagship phone, the Galaxy S IV, at CES, but instead will be showcasing it at a later event. It was widely speculated that Samsung would be launching its next flagship smartphone at CES 2013 after the company released a teaser trailer that tells the world to get ready for "Something New". However, it appears that at CES 2013, Samsung will instead focus on televisions and a range of other electronic products, the CNET report stated citing sources. None of these announcements pertain to any significant smartphone news.

Before the teaser trailer came to light, it was rumoured that the Galaxy S IV would be launched after CES 2013 and not at the annual electronics expo, which now turns out to be correct.

Rumours about the Galaxy S IV have been falling like snow did in the Ice Age. If the last rumour about the Samsung Galaxy S IV is to be believed, it may feature an unbreakable screen. In fact, reports suggest that if this is true, it could turn out to be a major selling point for the smartphone—considering the converging form factor.

The South Korean giant has been a popular name in the development of displays. Mark Newman, an analyst with Stanford Bernstein, had recently stated that Samsung will eventually go for unbreakable and flexible displays. "Either the Galaxy S IV or S V will have unbreakable and even possibly flexible and foldable displays by 2014. That's going to be a game-changer."

Interestingly, reports also indicate that the Galaxy S IV will probably have a bigger and better display, quad-core processing power and a 13 megapixel camera, with picture density improving to 441 pixels per inch (ppi), which is a big improvement over the Galaxy S III's 306 ppi and better than the iPhone 5's 326 ppi.

For Samsung to use a 13 megapixel camera on its upcoming smartphone, the handset would require more processing power as well as extra RAM, presumably 2GB. If Samsung does use such a camera on its smartphone, then one would be able to capture images at a resolution of 4208 x 3120 pixels.

Brazilian company to release Android phones under IPHONE brand

Brazilian electronics company IGB Electronica SA has announced a new line of Android phones. The curious thing about the devices is that the company is branding them as IPHONE. The company had originally applied for the trademark of the IPHONE brand back in 2000 in Brazil.

According to Reuters, the first model in the line-up will be called the Neo One. IGB was formed this year after restructuring Gradiente Electronica SA, which had originally applied for exclusive rights in Brazil to register its products under the name IPHONE in 2000.

While a lawsuit is imminent, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, as IGB has owned the trademark for the brand since much before the launch of Apple's first iPhone. This could also simply end through quiet settlement negotiations from both companies.

While this ‘IPHONE’ branded Android device line-up will probably cause some interesting scenarios in the months to come, the actual iPhone may also be worth watching. According to an earlier report, Apple may release the next iPhone—rumoured to be named the iPhone 5S as it follows the naming convention so far—in June next year.

These speculations come from analyst Peter Misek. Misek has predicted that the iPhone 5S will be launched in June, making it the first iPhone to be released in this time of the year since the iPhone 4. He also states that the iPhone 5S will be available in a range of colour options. Misek states that the iPhone 5S will be launched in 6 to 8 different colour options. This prediction could turn out to be true as some of Apple’s rivals such as Samsung and Nokia release smartphones in a variety of colour options. Apple too has recently released the new 4-inch iPod touch in 6 colour options.

Apart from the launch date and the availability of the smartphone in different colours, Misek also states that the iPhone 5S will come loaded with improved specifications such as super HD camera and screen, an improved battery and Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology. The last feature was expected to be featured in the iPhone 5, but Apple did not add it; hence, it makes sense if the brand adds it with the upcoming model.

It is advised to take Misek's predictions with a grain of salt, though, as the analyst's predictions about the iPad mini has been wrong. But again, to Misek's credit, his predictions about previous iPhones have been right.

The last we heard of the iPhone 5S was earlier this month when a French website Nowehereelse.fr had acquired some images of the internals of the upcoming model. From the images we can see that the screw placement on the upcoming model is a bit different from the iPhone 5. Some other minor changes can also be noticed. However, in the side-by-side comparison of the two, we can see that the external design of the handset remains the same.

Apple has a tradition of opting for similar designs with every alternate model and hence, it may come as no surprise if it does decide to keep the external design the same. The brand did it with the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4S and from the looks of it, the iPhone 5S may not have any cosmetic improvements over its predecessor.

You tube unveils capture app for IOS

YouTube has launched a new iOS app, dubbed Capture (see video, bottom), that lets iPhone users quickly create and post videos to the Google-owned site.

"Life moves fast. To speed up recording, enhancing and sharing videos with your friends or the whole world, you can now use the YouTube Capture app on your iPhone or iPod touch," YouTube wrote in a blog post.

The app lets you capture video on your iOS device, and upload it to YouTube instantly. There is also the option to share on social networks like Google+ (of course), Facebook, and Twitter.

The free app is now available in the App Store. Once downloaded, you'll be asked to sign in with your Google Account, and create a YouTube Channel. You can use data pulled from your Google+ account or create a new username. It will then ask you to sign in to the social networks with which you want to share your videos, and then you're ready to get started.

To help you avoid taking a narrow video in portrait mode, the app only comes alive when you flip your iPhone or iPod touch into landscape mode, though you can turn this feature off via Settings if you wish.

Tap the circular, red record button to start and stop recording. There is the option to automatically start recording the second you rotate your phone, but that is turned off by default and must be activated in Settings.

When you hit stop, Google will provide you with the option to make your video public or private, share on the social networks of your choice, or enhance the video with things like colour correction and stabilisation. You can also shorten a video and add free background music from YouTube. It can then be uploaded in 480p or 720p. It wasn't immediately clear how you could delete videos from the app.

At this point, the app is only available in the App Store; Google said it is "working to bring this to Android in the future."

The official YouTube app made its standalone debut in the App Store in September. Prior to that, it had been pre-loaded on all iOS devices as native software since the 2007 debut of the iPhone. But with the launch of iOS 6, Apple dropped YouTube as a pre-installed app. YouTube recently updated that app and optimised it for the iPhone 5 and iPad.
